MONSE

I came across the brand MONSE today and am blown away. Every piece is amazing on its own and when paired together makes for an epic stylish combo. I want to own this entire Pre-Fall 2018 collection.  The shoes are to die for, the pajama inspired dress, and the off the shoulder asymmetric shirt/sweaters….come on…tell me you don’t feel the same?!?

NATIONAL GALLERY OF IRELAND

To commemorate St. Patrick’s Day, here is the newly renovated National Gallery of Ireland by Heneghan Peng Architects. HP Architects were chosen for this six year renovation project after having been recognized for their work on the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Palestinian Museum. They successfully addressed the circulation issues the gallery was having, unearthed windows that were bricked for decades bringing in much needed light, as well as introducing light into buildings via new modern skylights. They have done a true job of preserving the past and beautifully introducing the new.

YSL- MARRAKECH MUSEUM

The Yves Saint Laurent museum opened in Marrakech, a city that had a strong influence on him through-out his career. His former business partner and life partner, Pierre Bergé, oversaw the museum inception and construction until his passing a month before the museums opening on October 19, 2017.

It was designed by Studio KO (founded by Olivier Marty & Karl Fournier) and according to The Guardian the architects design intent was for “the exterior to evoke the ‘weft and warp of fabric’ while the interior is designed to evoke the lining of a couture jacket, ‘velvety, smooth and radiant.'”

There is a research library with over 6,000 books, a bookshop, 150-seat auditorium (named after Pierre Bergé) and a cafe named Le Studio after YSL’s Paris office. Displayed is a collection of clothing from over the decades and thousands of drawings/photos depicting the fashion houses history. This museum also has a rather large storage space for over 4,000 items.

Studio KO did an amazing job of keeping true to morocco’s design environment while taking careful attention to minute details as YSL did with all his designs. It is a true modern beauty!!

MARIO TESTINO

My final project for studio was to design an artist retreat for the artist of my choice. I chose Mario Testino. His work inspires me. He has this vibrant personality that is able to ease any client of his. His photos like to show a bold, sexy, confident yet happy easy going woman. See for yourself. Hope you enjoy his work as much as I do.
