HABITAT BY LIESS

Lauren Liess is a DC/Virginia based interior designer that does projects all over the country. A wife and mother of 4, I wonder ….how does she do it all. I read one of her blog posts and it sang to my heart. She was talking about creative fixes mentioning that her posts are sporadic and don’t always focus on interiors because she writes about what she is passionate about at the time. I feel the exact same way. My posts are random but are what I enjoy! I started this blog as a creative outlet for me. I work in an industry that is not creative driven and I needed to start this blog to not go crazy!!

Anyways….Lauren just wrote her first book Habitat and I cannot wait to own it.

CAROLINA HERRERA SPRING’16

My best friend is a huge fan of Herrera’s and while perusing through Vogue’s roster of runway shows, decided to view her Spring’16 ready-to-wear collection. Upon viewing the collection it was love at first sight. The outfits are simple but are structurally etched with straight lined details. The colors consisted of soft blush tones, crisp whites, with touches of black.

Beautiful dress… and those shoes!!

You could make this outfit bad-ass by wearing darker edgier heels and different earrings.

This jacket is amazing. There are so many different ways it can be worn. I would definitely own it.

The most dramatic piece of the collection. I like the fabric choice and the element of surprise from the floral lining.

THE NEW SCARF

Giorgio Armani’s Milan’15 fashion show introduced me to ‘the new scarf’.This necklace is a combination of my 3 favorite things….tassel, scarf and the fact that its a necklace. I have never seen anything like this accessory before. You could easily wear it with a dress or jeans and a button down chemise.

SERIOUSLY RANDOM

This random cluster of images are my current source of inspiration. The iconic style of Jane & Serge, laced alligator heels, ornately detailed ceilings, simple outfits, skirts with sneakers and especially the image of the water in motion.

I am always saving images. You never know when you may need to reference an image for color combination ideas, same goes for furniture arrangements, or when you ask yourself ‘Can I wear Nike high-tops with a Givenchy skirt’ kinda moment.

CHRISTINE CENTENERA

As VOGUE Australia’s, Fashion Director, it’s expected to have amazing style. Christine brings that expectation to another level! Her looks are simple yet make a statement. All of her outfits are rich in texture and quality, which are signs of a good basic’s filled closet. She looks comfortable in every look she wears, whether it be a structured dress, a large bow on her neck or sweats thrown on with some fur.

Check her out…

HEMPEL GARDENS

I am intrigued by Anouska Hempel’s landscapes. Her gardens are green and very structured. They seem like a modern take on what old British gardens used to be like.

Hempel has an interesting story…she was a James Bond vixen turned British socialite and has an internationally recognized firm specializing in interior designer and landscape architecture. Not too shabby……

SPANISH BARN

I discovered this barn on the internet yesterday and it took my breath away. It was an abandoned barn in Extremadura, Spain that someone bought and turned into a vacation home. With the help of Abaton, a Spanish architectural firm, they were able to turn a dilapidated barn into the perfect rustic getaway. The addition of the over-sized wooden shutters add a modern touch yet blend will the the aged stone. I like the minimal use of furniture in the home as to not deflect attention from the generous view. The mid-century furniture is a nice touch of simplistic style.

This is where I wish I was today. Waking up to a nice view, going for a hike, tanning by the pool…..how relaxing does that sound?!?

TIEGEN/LEGEND CONDO

John Legend and hilarious Chrissy Teigen are selling their New York apartment. They want to start a family and feel that the space is too small. The condo was purchased for $2.5 million in 2012 and it is now listed at $4.3 million. Please keep in mind this is only a one bedroom!!!

I have to say though…the 1,969 sq ft. apartment is on point. It was renovated by Don Stewart and the architect in charge was Winka Dubbeldam.

Would you spend that kind of money to live in a one bedroom?
