Wanted a way to document and share all of the things/places/interiors & fashion that inspire me. Recent grad student of Interior Architecture. Currently: Working in Commercial Real Estate

ITS BEEN A WHILE…

I have been MIA for quite some time BUT it’s because I have decided to return to school for my Masters in Interior Architecture & Design. It consists of many long nights and sacrificing having a normal social life but I have to say that it has been the best decision I have ever made. I am so happy that I decided to pursue my passion and will be able to start my own company when the time permits. Bare with me, I will attempt to try and post on a semi-regular basis from now on.

MARTHE ARMITAGE

Let me tell you how I learned about the wonderful artist Marthe Armitage…

I am a fan of Landscape Artist Miranda Brooks (post about her work coming soon) and while searching, a Vogue article featuring her Brooklyn home popped up.Being nosy I had to check it out. I fell in love with the light blue wallpaper that was showcased in her daughter’s room. I decided to do some research on the person or company that produced such a lovely print. That is when I came across and learned about the very talented Marthe Armitage.

She is a British woman of 86 years, who has been hand printing wallpaper since the 50s and has only recently been recognized for her work in the last 10 years!!  Marthe hand draws all of her designs, she cuts her designs into lino blocks and then uses a lithographic printing press to create her custom wallpaper. All of this is done in her studio/garage with the help of her daughter.

Her work is classic yet modern and works well in many different settings.

NATE AND JEREMIAH

I feel like the entire nation is a fan of Nate Berkus’s work. His husband Jeremiah Brent is also a very talented decorator put the two together and you can rest assure their place in NYC is a show stopper. Though I think they just recently sold it. Black and gold is my favorite color combination and that kitchen just does it for me…IN LOVE. They have beautiful chevron wood floors, a complimenting neutral palette throughout and the carrera marble in the bathroom!!! Bonus…they make a beautiful family.

RATTAN

Came across an interesting blurb on one of my favorite sites (The Socialite Family) called The Return of Rattan Cane and it immediately brought me back to my childhood. Growing-up we had two rocking chairs with rattan weaving on the seat and the back rest. While researching, I found the most gorgeous rattan furniture. I hope you enjoy the below pieces as much as I do.

JOHANNA ORTIZ

While perusing the internet I came across the brilliant designs of Colombian designer, Johanna Ortiz. I absolutely adore the structured ruffles that seem to be her signature. I want to own every single one of her pieces and feel like the Colombian Goddess I always wanted to be. Kidding, I am not even a Latina but seriously…this collection is timeless, luxurious and ultra feminine. Bravo Johanna!

This striped top is to die for. This top would look stellar worn in the S. of France or Greece.

PATINA FARM

Where does the time go?!? I haven’t blogged in a few weeks but I ‘ve come back with a beautiful treat…photos of the gorgeous Patina Farm. It’s the home of Architect Steve and Interior Designer Brooke Giannetti in California’s Ojai Valley. They first  bought the land and together designed the home. Though the house is large it is so well designed that it seems homey with a touch of Europe throughout. They also have the cutest donkeys and goats!

KELLY KLEIN- FLORIDA HOME

I am currently vacationing in sunny Florida and wanted to share a little bit of good old sunshine design with you all! I have always admired photographer/ex-equestrian Kelly Klein’s home in Palm Beach and wanted to share it with you. It was featured in Architectural Digest a few years ago, its minimally designed, rich in woods and with an abundance of light.
