RATTAN

Came across an interesting blurb on one of my favorite sites (The Socialite Family) called The Return of Rattan Cane and it immediately brought me back to my childhood. Growing-up we had two rocking chairs with rattan weaving on the seat and the back rest. While researching, I found the most gorgeous rattan furniture. I hope you enjoy the below pieces as much as I do.

PATINA FARM

Where does the time go?!? I haven’t blogged in a few weeks but I ‘ve come back with a beautiful treat…photos of the gorgeous Patina Farm. It’s the home of Architect Steve and Interior Designer Brooke Giannetti in California’s Ojai Valley. They first  bought the land and together designed the home. Though the house is large it is so well designed that it seems homey with a touch of Europe throughout. They also have the cutest donkeys and goats!

KELLY KLEIN- FLORIDA HOME

I am currently vacationing in sunny Florida and wanted to share a little bit of good old sunshine design with you all! I have always admired photographer/ex-equestrian Kelly Klein’s home in Palm Beach and wanted to share it with you. It was featured in Architectural Digest a few years ago, its minimally designed, rich in woods and with an abundance of light.

AERIN LAUDER- ASPEN

I know i’m a little late but…Happy New Year!!!!

On another note, today was the first real COLD day we have had here in DC. I am not a fan of being cold unless it’s for a good reason like, playing in the snow or hiking on a beautiful trail. I would say skiing but I do not know how to…I know it’s tragic. Too bad Aerin Lauder is not a close personal friend of mine because I would invite myself every year to join her at her gorgeous home in Aspen and have her give me lessons…J/K. But seriously you’ll feel the same way after you’ve seen the below pics.

3The library has a comforting feeling with all that wood present. Wish there was a window seat though.

104712I like that this is a gender neutral children’s room. The use of wood is simply…beautiful.

McKEE’S NYC HOME

Marigay McKee is a successful woman that has recently (2013) transplanted from England to Manhattan’s Upper East Side. She worked 15 years at Harrods working her way up from beauty buyer to chief merchant and made the move to NYC to be Saks Fifth Avenue’s President. Since her arrival to the states, she has left her post with Saks and has opened her own firm, MM Luxe Consulting.

McKee’s NYC home is as marvelous as her career. It’s a 9,000 square-foot-townhouse built in 1884 by architects Douglas and John Jardine. It was decorated by Nicole Freezer Rubens.

HABITAT BY LIESS

Lauren Liess is a DC/Virginia based interior designer that does projects all over the country. A wife and mother of 4, I wonder ….how does she do it all. I read one of her blog posts and it sang to my heart. She was talking about creative fixes mentioning that her posts are sporadic and don’t always focus on interiors because she writes about what she is passionate about at the time. I feel the exact same way. My posts are random but are what I enjoy! I started this blog as a creative outlet for me. I work in an industry that is not creative driven and I needed to start this blog to not go crazy!!

Anyways….Lauren just wrote her first book Habitat and I cannot wait to own it.

TIEGEN/LEGEND CONDO

John Legend and hilarious Chrissy Teigen are selling their New York apartment. They want to start a family and feel that the space is too small. The condo was purchased for $2.5 million in 2012 and it is now listed at $4.3 million. Please keep in mind this is only a one bedroom!!!

I have to say though…the 1,969 sq ft. apartment is on point. It was renovated by Don Stewart and the architect in charge was Winka Dubbeldam.

Would you spend that kind of money to live in a one bedroom?

BAILEY’S MANOR

Sooo….I’m feeling very British at the moment and had to showcase British Vogue Contributing Editor, Laura Bailey’s beautiful English country home.

This home is a great blend of minimalism and comfort…if that makes sense. The shell of the Manor is this quintessential British country home that you would expect to see…at least in my eyes but the interior is a delightful surprise. I would never expect to see glossed cabinets in the kitchen.

Laura, can I come next summer?

CALI ROW

I came upon this gem of a building recently…It is the first flagship store of the Olsen twins brand, ‘The Row’. It is a beautiful Mid-century California style store located on Melrose that was designed to give a sense of homeyness. Ashley was quoted in Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) saying “Ultimately, for us, it was about setting up like a home and just having the apparel be a part of the space”. The sisters wanted the store to be an extension of themselves and as well as be a representation of LA style.

They stayed true to their commitment of representing LA by working with local furniture and antique dealers acquiring the pieces showcased in the store, all of which are for sale.

I personally find this store breathtaking. It seems like a store that you could stroll through and appreciate the clothes. I hope to one day visit.

What are your thoughts?
